My credit score went from 649 to 703 in a few months!

Long story short i wanted to buy a newer car but couldnt afford to fork over all that cash so i decided to
finance my new car (first time in my life). Needless to say my application was declined due to low credit
score. I did some 'research' and my buddy recommended me to buy some furniture on store credit to
'raise my score'; well when i got to the furniture store i picked out a leather couch and proceeded with
the application, too bad i didnt go by myself but with my girlfriend because the store declined the
financing BUT they offered me a third party financing and said 'they can finance anyone'. Well i applied
and went home with my head down. A week later i get a call from the store telling me that my second
application was declined as well.

That was a big blow, i started thinking about not having that new lexus, my future house and all the other
benefits that come with having a great credit score. I decided to do something about that. I have talked to a
few "experts" at the local banks and even read a few books on raising credit score - it was ok but too general.

I found this book almost by accident, i think it was something in the mail. I checked it out, found it on
amazon and ordered it. Once i got it and looked through it i was impressed at how structured the book
is and after reading first 20 pages and navigated around to get my specific problems taken care of. It
was a step by step system and with a little bit of work on my end i was able to successfully raise my
credit score. Yes it took time but the amount of work was minimal compared to the results.

From this manual you will learn and understand how FICO score system actualy works (you will be surprized),
what type of letters to write to whom and why, what OCR is and how to cleverly get around it, how to protect your
identity for free, how to use specific federal government laws to your advantage to help you with
your specific situation, how to send and what to say properly in the dispute letters to credit
bureaus. How to stop all collection calls and have them leave you alone (if you have unmanaged debt).

The most important thing i learned was how to Quickly raise my credit score with all 3 agencies without
getting into more debt, i finally understand how the credit system works (its pretty screwed up
actually).

Another thing i like about the course is that after each chapter there is a conversational type of
Q&A where the author answers all the questions that can come up. Needless to say i highly recommend
this book this is great value, i am the type of man who appreciates quality information. Thank
you again for this life-saving material! And thank you for my new Lexus ls460!

A great read

I have followed David's blog for a couple of years now and also read his first book Logo Design Love so this was a no brainer for me. If you are familiar with David's writing, then you won't be surprised to hear that this book is an easy read. David always keeps things simple and easy to understand. I'd say about half of the book is his experience and the other half are contributions from fellow designers who started their own design businesses. There are some really valuable insights in the book and some of the best ones are more about what not to do.

Starting a business of any kind is a huge undertaking. If you are starting a design business, this covers pretty much everything you need to get started. Chances are you will make mistakes along the way so read this book and hopefully you'll make less of them.

Seriously, what a fabulous book. David Airey also has a blog which is a must follow if you love design and want to learn much more about the business side, but also what is happening in the design biz. What makes this book so good is it tackles the most difficult parts of business, including being the best for your clients,but also how to deal with the unreasonable ones.

About the Author
Drummer Ari Hoenig was born in 1973 in Philadelphia, PA. He has worked extensively in bands led by Shirley Scott, Jean Michel Pilc, Kenny Werner, Chris Potter, Pat Martino, Joshua Redman, Wayne Krantz, Richard Bona, Mike Stern, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bojan Z, Jazz Mandolin Project and James Hurt. Since 2002, Ari has been leading his own group in New York City where they play regularly at "Smalls" jazz club on Monday nights. Ari is a Dreyfus recording artist who has recorded five CD's and a live DVD as a leader. He is also on more than 80 recordings as a sideman. As an educator, Ari teaches privately in Brooklyn and also for the New School for Social Research in Manhattan. He gives clinics and lectures at music schools and universities worldwide and writes a regular educational column for Modern Drummer magazine. Bassist Johannes Weidenmueller has been a member of Ray Barretto's New World Spirit, the Carl Allen Vincent Herring quintet, the John Abercrombie quartet, the Joe Lovano trio and the Kenny Werner trio among others. Other associations include Benny Golson, James Moody, Gary Bartz, Clifford Jordan, Dewey Redman, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Toots Thielemans, George Benson, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Jonny Coles, Joe Chambers, Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux and many others. Johannes has appeared on over 60 recordings as a sideman. He has been on the faculty of the New School's jazz and ontemporary music program in New York since 1997 where he teaches bass and ensemble. He is an in-demand clinician who gives lectures and workshops at universities and colleges around the world.

Transformative!

Well, this is something for the future, a book to keep under my pillow until I've gotten a handle on their part 1: Intro to Polyrhythms. Both books are absolutely fantastic--filled with clear, concise, in-depth, mind-bending ideas and concepts. The DVDs are excellent. They do move at a quick clip, but that's what your pause button is for. The direction to listen FIRST and FOREMOST proves that these guys know what they're doing in jazz. Don't be tricked into mathematical puzzles, because doing that just takes you away from your heart and away from your center. Just be patient. These are long term books -- easy to read and skinny, but filled with nuggets you need if you're serious at all. GOOD FOR PIANISTS AND BASS PLAYERS TOO!

I took private lessons with Johannes, he's certainly the best bass teacher I have ever had. His rhythmic approach is very eye-opening. These two books with Ari Hoenig are unbelievable curriculums, although they keep improving themselves so you can't just shed these and expect to know what they are doing today =) I saw Johannes not too long ago in a conference about rhythm, and he had a bunch of other stuff we never talked about in our lessons. Good to see how they keep growing.

Much of the violence that characterized Reconstruction was directly associated with the Negro militia movement organized by Radical politicians to support their precarious regimes in Southern states. This book is the story of that ill-fated movement, a story with important implication for later times.

Most Southern whites did not disguise their hostility toward the governments that were imposed on their states after Reconstruction entered its Radical phase. and Radical leaders lived in constant fear that this hostility would flare into open revolt. Organization of a loyal protective force was imperative if they were to remain in power.

Although planned originally as a defensive force, the Negro militia was quickly used by the Radicals for such purposes as controlling elections. The resentment of Southern whites resulting from this political activity was aggravated by crimes of violence, depredations, and minor social offenses committed by some of the militiamen. However, the white Southerner’s fundamental enmity toward the Negro militia stemmed from the racial implications of a policy that armed the Negroes and placed them in positions of authority over white men.

At first, opposition to the Negro militia movement took the form of legal stratagems and other measures short of force, but the final blow to the Negro militia was dealt by white volunteer rifle companies— illegal, armed counterforces that were at the very core of the White Line movement. The race riot as a political technique was born, the most notorious riot occurring at Hamburg, South Carolina, where, the author states, the policy of “disbandment through extermination” was successfully employed. Disintegration of the entire movement was inevitable.

“It is ironic,” Singletary states, “that the organization of this protective force, because of its racial implications, actually aided in the destruction of the very thing it was created to protect.”

Before its publication, Negro Militia and Reconstruction won the Moncado Prize, a cash award made biennially by the American Military Institute for “the best original book-length manuscript in any field of United States Military history.”

Empowering Practices That Work!

This is one of the most empowering and inspiring health books I've ever read... and I've read many over the past 45 years. It's indeed an "oldie" but a major "goodie"! No matter what you've been doing health-wise, if you are unfamiliar with the techniques in this book, I suspect they will make a big difference in your life. They sure have in mine!

Wonderful positive book. On page 91 there is a wonderful self-healing guided meditation that works. There are some things MDs can't help you with, but this book and meditation can.

A queen's life...taken from her own words

Queen Elizabeth II is almost 90 years old and has been on the throne for 63 years. In that time, she has made a yearly speech to her subjects and those of the Commonwealth at Christmas. She writes that speech with the help of Prince Philip and her aides. She also carries on conversations with her family, friends, and the people she meets during her walk-abouts. She has also been heard making clever asides. And it is from all these sources that Ingrid Seward, editor of "Majesty" magazine and author of many other books on the royals, has cobbled together a book on Elizabeth, "The Queen's Speech: An Intimate Portrait of the Queen in her Own Words".

I'd guess that anyone reading this review and thinking about buying this book, is a fan of the British Royal Family. Seward's book is really a straight biography of the queen, concentrated at points in her life where Seward can tie events and people to Elizabeth's utterances. I guess if Elizabeth hasn't alluded to it, it's not covered in Seward's book. But Elizabeth has never given a press conference and her private diary has never been seen (and won't be til after her death). Her only on-the-record remarks are her Christmas speech and her various government speeches that are written by others. That's not much to base a book on, but Ingrid Seward gives it her best.

This is not a bad book, and makes enjoyable reading, but, frankly, I already knew most of what Seward wrote. (And I'm an American!) If you're new to the royals, you'd probably enjoy the book. If you're an old hand at the British and know all the gossip, then Seward's book probably won't tell you anything you don't already know.

Very disappointed. Lots of cut-and-paste. The topic had a LOT of possibilities and potential and just did not live up to expectations. Had read the "good parts" in previous books by this author and not much new to draw me in to the "not-so-new" book.
