Monocle Vienna's Whitewashed Take on History

A study in how to rewrite history, Monocle's Vienna includes a wide variety of essays on the city's history including some very major gaps. Marie-Sophie Schwarzer's laughable history of the city suggests Vienna attacked an "influx of people from different backgrounds" but notes the "tide turned during the Second World War." (Yup that's it on WW2, which is presented as a passing hiccup).Now though she affirms the city is a "magnet for immigrants from all corners of the world." What's missing? Just the fact that of Vienna's 200,000 Jews all but 2,000 were murdered in the Holocaust. Plus the fact that Vienna became a cosmopolitan cultural center largely thanks to those Jews (Freud to Mahler on down). You can try to write Jews out of history. But if you do you erase the driving force of Vienna's golden age, and the horror of its downfall.

We have been subscribers to Benoit Michel's "Stereoscopy News" website for many years, and when we discovered he had authored a book on 3D Stereoscopic production we ordered it immediately. It was a no-brainer the book would be good, taking into account Benoit's background and expertise on 3D, but we had no idea it would be what we consider the best 3D production book available on the market today.
I read the book in it's entirety in about three sittings and found that it covered most everything relevant pertaining to 3D stereoscopic production, just like the title says "Scene to Screen" and everything in between.
I loaned my first copy to a friend and purchased another for myself...long story short, I'm on my fourth copy.
We plan to include this book as required reading for a 3D stereoscopic production class being taught in higher
education and K-12 school systems.... it's THAT good !!
Congratulations to Benoit Michel for a job well done... thank you.

I have been a regular reader of Benoit Michel's website and his boook, just like his website, is extremely well-informed and provides key insights into the creation, production and display of stereo images as well as a lot of practical and technical details, including regarding my area of expertise, 2D-to-3D conversion.

Why I really love this book?

Starting from the theoretical aspects of 3D movie creation and covering everything up to the intricate details of the various transmission, storage and presentation formats and processes, Mr Michel provides us with a comprehensive view of everything required to understand what it takes to deliver a striking stereoscopic experience to the audience.

This is simply the best and most accurate "vertical" reference for stereoscopy, from the scene composition to the screen. Suitable for beginners and pros alike, this is a highly recommended book. Congrats, Mr Michel !

This cookbook definitely needs to be more exact. What is a regular sized pan? What is a medium sized pan? This can make a difference in the final product. Some of these recipes look good but I would not buy this book again for that reason.
