About the Author
Twinkle Khanna, aka Mrs Funnybones, crafts satirical stories and funny fables when she is not running a design business, selling candles or running in circles around her small but rather odd family. She narrowly escaped a gruesome tragedy when Bollywood tried to bludgeon her brain to the size of a pea, but she ducked at the right moment and escaped miraculously unharmed. She is a popular columnist and is a regular contributor to The Times of India and DNA After Hrs. Currently, she is in the process of creating lame jokes like, Why do all Hindu boys worship their mother? Because their religion tells them to worship the cow. She firmly believes that nothing in life is sacred except laughter.

An interesting insight into the quirky, yet completely normal life of Twinkle Khanna.

Before I begin, I must admit to 2 things -
1. I like Twinkle Khanna - nope, not as an actress (she was a terrible one!) or even as a person (because I clearly don’t know her!). I like her in her columnist avatar; that is my most favorite version of her. I say most favorite version, because she is/has been many things - star-child turned actress turned candle maker turned columnist turned author. Phew!
2. I have a hard time thinking of this as a book - to me, it’s a collection of articles or blog posts or journal entries...maybe. Anything, but not a book. This is not necessarily a good or a bad thing; just my perception of it. Having said that, for the lack of a better description, I’ll stick with ‘book’ for now.
Mrs Funny Bones - the book, is narrated Mrs FunnyBones - Twinkle Khanna’s alter-ego (or so she says). I read this book in one-sitting (3 hours) - a feat I haven't performed in the past few years - not because it is an unputdownable, flawless, literary gem, but only because it is a fast, quick read.
It reads like several journal entries, and is mostly a narration of scattered, unimportant things that happen in her life, which are not exactly interesting, but her ready wit ensures that they are not boring either.
I must also mention that this book is not a showcase of the glittering life of a superstar's wife. On the contrary, it is an insider look into the quirky, yet completely normal life of Twinkle Khanna - the mother, wife, daughter and entrepreneur.
Big Expectations:
To be honest, I had big expectations from this book. Mostly because, I have read several of her articles, and have really enjoyed them. She is sassy, sarcastic, and has a great sense of humour, which reflects in her writing.
Then came the title, and cover release, and I loved them too. Even after reading the book, I feel that the title and the cover work very well. They stand out, and also convey the mood of the book.
A (little) Disappointing Reality:
Having said what I have said, this book did not quite meet my expectations. Admittedly, the expectations were pretty big to begin with, but it’s not just that.

A beautiful book to make your life hard moments bearable

I will be honest I did not know that Mrs Khanna did write Blogs. My wife showed me this book and mentioned that it is good.
I did by this book (no piracy :)) for my wife and not for me.
She did not read it and i wanted a light read so picked this up.
I was surprised, I would never have thought the Twinkle Khanna , the movie star could write so beautifully.
Getting humor into any aspect of life (write , talk, act) is very difficult. but the way she has got humor us marvelous. The small anecdotes of life and making it hilarious , hats off to you.
I loved the small snippets where she talks about her husband and mother.
The Prodigal son reminds me of any kid you can see.
A good book, keep it with you , for the moments when you are feeling low about your life. This will make those moments lighter.

Mrsfunnybones is a quick and funny read. The author is born and brought up in high society bollywood so shows off her status in many instances. She makes the most mundane incidents/situations sound really hilarious. It is one of those late evening reads that you finish in an hour and a half.
