I honestly love this book

I honestly love this book. The questions are not too long so this makes it much easy to undeerstand and answer. It is a good book to help with studying for surgical finals. I like that it has SAQs, EMQs, and MCQs so I can practice answering different types of questions. I would recommend it to others. I give it two thumbs up!!!!!

About the Author
Bob Ross entered the business broker industry in the mid-1980’s working for a merger and acquisition group which purchased his consumer electronics wholesale distributorship. After one year of handling and reorganizing three major acquisitions, he realized he was working on the wrong side of the transaction. He then went to work as the general manager of a six person mid-market business brokerage firm where he spent two years, before deciding to go on his own. He formed Bob Ross & Associates and aligned himself with four other brokers under the umbrella of Alliance of Independent Brokers. This group became a dominate force in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In association with one of his associates in Alliance, Business Brokers Network was established in 1992. The goal was to grow the network of brokers to one hundred offices by 2000. An additional company, Ross, Wendler, & Steen was formed to handle business valuation, with Bob as President. He gave final approval to over 6,000 valuation reports, with this firm. In late 1998, Bob sold his interest, in both companies, and returned to active business brokerage. BBN had over 450 affiliated offices when he sold his interest in the company. There were many things Bob learned and wanted to try while assisting the affiliates of Business Brokers Network. He continued to work as a broker until 2002 when he retired as an active business broker. Brokers Network Group was formed in 2003 allowing brokers who had left BBN and other top brokers the opportunity to be part of a network, without having to pay franchise fees, and it gave him the opportunity to help these brokers when they needed advice or assistance. Teaching business brokerage is something he has always enjoyed. He assists members of the Brokers Network Group when they have questions or problems while working on business listings. Bob earned a BBA degree from Texas A & M – Commerce. He also earned the Board Certified Broker designation from the Texas Association of Business Brokers. He was the thirty-second broker to earn the Certified Business Intermediary designation from the International Business Brokers Association, in 1989. He has been very active in the Institute of Certified Business Counselors. He is past-president and served on their board of directors, for six years. He then earned the Certified Business Counselor designation, in 1994. In 2004, he became one of the first seven to receive the Master Certified Business Counselor designation.

Excellent Book... A Must Read!

I learned so much from this book. I couldn't put it down and read it in just a few days. I took away so much useful information that covers every step of listing and selling a business from start to finish. I plan to read it again and makes notes that I will certainly refer to for my future listings. Every time I pick up this book I learn something new. Sometime I want to reference a specific topic for a deal I'm working on and sometimes I do an ongoing refresh - but I always gain another level of insight or a valuable tip from the experience of the author, Bob Ross. I have been a business broker for over ten years and this is well worth the read and as an ongoing reference!

The better you follow up, the bigger your business!

Follow up skills? Great idea. If new distributors don't have enough skills to enroll new prospects on the first visit, well, they probably won't have enough follow up skills to do the job either. Like how the techniques in the book prepare the distributor to start closing with no rejection. They will like having the exact things to say. Everyone thinks that the sale ends once you get a Yes! But that's just the beginning of the relationship.

The better you follow up, the bigger your business!

Disappointing

Alex and Beth, who were best friends before lovers, have been married for three years when Alex realizes that she is unhappy. In the beginning of their marriage, things were good, they had fun, and their relationship was based on love, it seems. But now, Alex feels stuck in her job, her marriage, and in her life overall.
And then Alex meets Michelle in a coffee shop. Michelle is everything Alex has ever wanted in a woman, she is adventurous, confident, sexy, gorgeous, good-hearted, and she has a meaningful job. In comparison, Alex’s imperfect/normal wife Beth, can only fall short. This realization sends Alex on a tailspin; over and over she regrets settling for Beth in the first place, accompanied by examples of why Beth is the evil one in this story (she is unambitious in her job, they hardly talk anymore, she never asks about her day, the apartment is a mess, etc.). Predictably, Alex falls in love with Michelle, but she battles this attraction for the majority of the book because of that inconvenient vow she took three years ago...

Initially, the story sounded very promising and I was intrigued by the idea of how one would reconcile an existing marriage with falling in love with "the one".

Here comes the spoiler alert: Don’t keep reading if you haven’t read the book and want to be unbiased!

While I mostly liked Smith’s writing (she is good with words and has the ability to make the story flow along), there is much room for improvement in the way she develops her characters. Let me specify this statement. Based on the information I get from the book, Alex is a one-dimensional character who undergoes no growth in this story. More importantly, Alex is not a driving force in her own story, nor does she take an active part in her life. On the contrary, everything just happens to her. For example, she is wallowing in self-pity about the demise of her marriage without doing anything at all to save it (and no, one lame attempt at sex doesn’t count).
Or let’s look at her job. She complains that it’s a dead-end job and all she does is doing coffee runs and pushing pencils. But she doesn’t actively do anything about it, she just keeps wondering why she isn’t getting ahead at all. Now, it isn’t unusual for people to be stuck in dead-end jobs because the company truly does not offer any chance to rise up, or because discrimination is involved. That is indeed demotivating. And I am not saying that Alex cannot complain about her job as everybody does, but I am saying that she doesn’t do anything about it. Surprisingly, once she meets Michelle and she starts sitting around at the coffee house all day Saturday, mostly ogling Michelle but also working on her case, things change. Who would have thought that actually working on the case would bring her to the attention of her boss? The boss then trusts her with handling slightly more. You see, she could have done this all along, if she wasn’t just a passive recipient of life’s circumstances.

This brings me to the next issue: plot holes. For one, why would someone who has been "pushing pencils" all day, suddenly become partner-material in a law firm, simply because she handled one case? This is unrealistic, to say the least. Second, if someone is in a major accident, fracturing her clavicle, how can this person have sex, cuddle and offer her chest as a pillow only days later? That would be extremely painful.

I could go on and on about this, but I think you get the gist. To sum up, the story sounded interesting, but quickly unraveled into a laundry list of complaints by an extremely passive and egocentric main character without any redeeming characteristics. It is simply infuriating that Alex takes no responsibility for her life whatsoever! Plus, we never hear anybody else’s side; however, with side comments such as the ones about Beth, I am starting to think that her story would have been much more interesting.
Seriously, it doesn’t take a therapist to understand that Alex will never be happy if she keeps complaining and relying on other people to make her happy.

I understand that I should not expect Pulitzer-level fiction from a lesbian romance novel. I also know that it isn’t easy to write good ficion. But please, judging by her overall pleasant writing style, I am sure that Smith can do so much better than this!

Unique perspective and well worth a read

My Quick Summary: Alex is unhappily married to Beth when she meets Michelle in a coffee shop. The next year they meet up frequently, becoming closer in the process and causing Alex to face the problems in her marriage.

Honestly, I would give this book 4 1/2 stars if I could since I thought it was very well written and unique in its approach. I know books about infidelity or the possibility of makes some people want to shy away, but I thought this book took a really honest approach. Sometimes you grow apart from the person you’ve committed yourself to, and other times you should never have committed yourself to them in the first place. This book takes the reader through all of that in the perspective of Alex, and makes you relate to her even if you’ve never been there.

I also thought the connection and chemistry between herself and Michelle was hot and completely believable. It amazed me that they actually got to know each other without jumping in to bed. The shock!!!

The only reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars was because I personally like when we hear both perspectives of our main characters. That’s just a personal preference for me and others may not be bothered by that fact.

Closing statement: I would recommend buying book this for sure.

Same Time Next Week is the first novel by Emily Smith that I’ve read. The book is well written and follows a good pace. The plot significantly different than many f/f romances novels and kept me hooked on a rainy Sunday. There were many occasions in the book that I was wondering to myself… “I don’t know how I feel about this”… I kind of felt like I was seeing something that I shouldn’t have been. Voyeur is not the right word, but it’s the only thing that comes to mind. The two many characters Alex and Michelle meet serendipitously at a lesbian coffee shop and form a friendship that develops into something for. All of the sudden Alex realizes that she has become a better version of herself, motivated by her relationship with Michelle. Alex has finally found the one that “checks all the boxes,” but she’s married.
Happy ending: subjective
Sex: Yes

Rowling's Harry Potter books, scornfully exposing them as foisted on us by "rich white American men" and no more than updated version of the British schoolboy books that fueled the fantasies of Victoria's empire. A better book to buy for children, she suggests, might be her own recent Be Bop Buzz. Hooks is always readable, but her takes on mass media here have a retro ring to them.

Great book. bell hooks is one of our most prominent scholars who makes feminism accessible to everyone, and also demonstrates the benefits of a feminist perspective for everyone, not just women. This is appropriate for both genders, especially men. Her perspective on patriarchy outlines how its continued social organization is detrimental to all of us equally. I found her work revealed pain I couldn't previously have recognized or uncovered.

Read this when it was published and couldn't put it down. Recently bought it again and gave it to my boyfriend. He struggles with masculine expectations, people in his life have urged him to be more tough and manly. He read this in a couple of days and came out with a thoughtful analysis of how patriarchy has influenced his life and the people he's known. He doesn't call himself a feminist but he has a critique of how harmful patriarchy is.

The Patriarchal Construct is Burdensome for All.

This book is perfect if you want to gain a critical, deeper understanding of how the patriarchal construct that we live under is a burden to men. It reveals how patriarchy damages mens' true sense of self and overall well-being. Bell Hooks does a superb job presenting the issues, as well as some solutions that promote transformation in the lives of the men we love.
