Now That Was Different

Book is a bit quirky but shows promise for the series. Premise is simple. Spoiled rich woman is divorced by her husband and gets little in settlement and has to learn how to take care of her self. She is befriended by a talking cat (only to her) and solves a mystery to boot. This is a short quick read and humorous in places. Margot is surrounded by a host of very quirky neighbors while she displays the social skills of a petulant teenager. She does grow through out the story and it is easy to imagine the situations this sets up for future stories. Worth checking back in on.

As cozy mysteries go, this one is a winner! It was a light and fun read. I wasn't sure about the talking cat, but I liked him as much as I did Margot. His comments were often the real thoughts we have, but politely Don't say aloud which made me smile.

I felt that there was a lot of unnecessary inner monologue and plot lines. I was upset with how boring the story got. Also there was a lot of sex, but no emotion. How they got from lust to love was not explained. I just did not feel that growth. The one main issue was fixed quickly. I don't know I just didn't feel it. I gave it a three because of the potential, but I will not go forward with the next book.

Another Awsome read about the Russian Mafia! Way to go Bella Rose‼️

This story caught my attention real quick. It's about Yuri, the bodyguard, and Holly, the senators daughter.
Apparently the Senator and Yuri go way back. So when he needed someone to protect his daughter,Yuri was his obvious choice.
Holly has a job, but has to sneak out of the house because her father disapproves of her working. Says he's worried for her safety. But one night the alarm went off as she snuck out the window and ran across the grounds. When she finally snuck back in, she came face to face wi Yuri, in the darkened room,and he held her silent until he was sure she wouldn't scream.
This is just a summery of the first couple chapters. The book can be a stand alone, but there is another book that continues from it. There is a HEA.
The book is full of Hot and Heavy sex scenes. Mafia undertaking. Parental smothering. And wonderfull Love scenes.
I would recommend this to any and all over 18 yrs old.

The book had 1449 locations on my kindle. The book was about a girl, named Hollie and a man, named Yuri. Hollie was a 23 year old, feisty and impulsive girl, who was being raised by her overprotective, congressman, father. Yuri was a handsome Russian body guard, with a past, who was hired to protect Hollie. The book contained some decent sex and oral sex scenes. The characters were ok. The "I love you's" came to soon, with no rhyme or reason, which is always irritating. The book was just boring, with no excitement, no romance, just some very quick sex.

This is a very useful introductory book on marine botany, covering most general aspects of marine botanical taxonomy, physiology and ecology, as well as a most useful chapter on the economic importance of several algae. I strongly recommend this book to undergraduates in marine biology and ecology courses, and hopefully expect a second edition will soon be published.

Debut author Orie, who grew up on an Oneida reservation, describes this book as a song, "a celebration of the circle of life-the return of morning to night as well as of each cycle of the seasons." Pitched in a soothing cadence, her narrative poses a series of questions, asking readers if they have heard, seen or experienced various phenomena that signal the approach of spring. Though her brief introductory note explains the meaning of certain Oneida symbols, many of her questions may seem obscure ("Does your memory bring Sweet Grass's fragrance?"; "Did you see the fields of the Three Sisters coming?"; "Did you see Trillium's Stars lying upon the Forest bed's heaven?"). More appropriately geared to the target audience are Canyon's (The Ever-Living Tree) dramatic, large-scale paintings, in which animals, insects, birds and flowers and are rendered in impressive detail. Beadwork motifs enliven the endpapers. Ages 4-8.

Kindergarten-Grade 4?Orie's celebration of Spring is full of imagery reflecting Oneida traditions. Structured as a series of questions, the song/poem explores the sensations, emotions, and spiritual experiences connected with the season: a hawk circling in the sky; the Three Sisters (corn, beans, and squash) sending out their green shoots; the first wild strawberries. The arrangement of the text?one question per double spread?emphasizes the contemplative quality of the verse. Each one evokes an image and invites reflection. An author's note explains the significance of the various symbols depicted. Canyon's lush, vibrant, double-page paintings spill out of their frames and are rich in detail, revealing dewdrops on a snail's shell; imperfections in a green leaf; and scattered spider webs that herald the final depiction of a complete web. The simple, graceful, italic typeface serves to unite text and illustrations. While the pictures are large and clear enough to be seen by a group, the calm exuberance of the poem lends itself best to one-on-one sharing. Wonderful illustrations, words that speak to the heart and soul. This is a great book for all ages. My 20 month old son loves the pictures and the sing-song rhythmn of the words, my 82 year old father loves the spirit of the book. We have the paperback in our sons library, and the hardback on our family library for future generations... Walk in peace, ...

A Work of Art!

This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever come across. The heart of this story is an Oneida song of praise for the celebration of spring. Readers are taken on a journey that rejoices in the season's birth of all life. The illustrations will mesmerize and take the breath of every child and adult alike. Not only is this a book to be treasured for its all-around beauty, but it would make a valuable tool for any elementary teacher and could be easily used for a variety of activities and lesson ideas. "Did you feel morning sun's warmth upon your face?"

This book is the best children's story to read to your kids on a fresh, April morning. It is a poetic journey through the natural world just as Spring begins. The illustrations are breathtaking, bold, and seem to flow off the page into your hand as you turn from one awesome scene to the next. The words, few but powerful, bring the reader through a meditation on the earth's beauty as seen through the eyes of an Oneida woman.

I read this book in almost one sitting. It has compelling factual data and riveting anecdotes. But, unlike Backlash, by Susan Faludi, which was almost totally negative, the authors also look at women's strengths in negotiation, and give some ideas for how to put their ideas into action.

It's not a how-to-negotiate book; I've spent the last 23 years practicing corporate law, negotiating sophisticated legal transactions and running an in-house department. This book goes beyond "how to" into "why". Essential reading for any woman!

Familiar, But Well-Supported

There isn't anything surprising in here to any woman who has been around the business world for a while. However, the book's real value is that it provides empirical evidence to support Everywoman's anecdotal observations.

What I found most useful about this book is evidence cited that women's "tend and befriend," cooperative approach to negotiation results in greater gains in the long run, in part because of women's ability to reframe. It also confirmed my impression that women are more successful in business when they soften their mode of delivery (although not their message).

The authors further reframe the scope of "negotiation" to include women's personal, including homemaking, lives, to remind us all that equality should not end at the thresholds to our homes.

Ultimately, every negotiator has to find his or her own personal style. This book made me feel just that much better about including lipstick and high heels in my arsenal.

This book is incredibly well-researched and thoughtfully laid out. It builds its case beautifully with interesting examples, then backs it up with empirical research. And credit to the authors' writing styles, for they do not point fingers or whine about the way things are. And they never fall into a dry style of writing. The book flows nicely, and is easy to read.
Most importantly, they shine a light on issues women have in asking for what they deserve and by laying out their case in such a well-articulated fashion, they help provide answers that we can all act upon and move forward with.
The issues that the book explores impact women across all facets of their life -- from negotiating child care responsibilites to getting the recognition and compensation they deserve on the job. As a co-author of the business book "The Old Girls' Network", I see these issues in evidence in how women buiness owners also negotiate -- for contracts, for customers, in how they price their products and reticence about charging appropriately. So, I would say this book has broad appeal to stay at home moms, women in corporate life and for the large contingent of female entrepreneurs. It is a must-have addition to all of our reading lists, and one that should bring positive results.
